Bulbous buttercup

Common name : Buttercup

Latin name : Ranunculus bulbosus

Member of the  Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae)

Probably the most common buttercup round Seaford in May. This is happy growing on our chalk soils.

Most people can recognise the beautiful buttery flowers with five petals. Bulbous buttercups normally have the sepals (the green petals under the main petals)  facing downwards down the stem rather than cupping the yellow petals as they do with other buttercups – for example meadow buttercup and creeping buttercup.
