Common name : Common Restharrow
Latin name : Ononis repens
A member of the Pea family (Fabaceae)
A very resilient creeping perennial, with pretty pink pea shaped flowers. It has very deep roots, and was difficult to get out of farmer’s fields – hence the name when it caused the harrow to stop! It appears in some town green spaces like the Martello fields, especially if drought has caused the grass to stop growing.
