A Network representing over 100 groups/organisations, working with the community for the community.
Greenhavens Network represents over 100 community groups and organisations working in and around Newhaven, Peacehaven, Lewes, Seaford and surrounding areas. It’s a network that works with the community for the community engaging with the public to create wildlife corridors in our green spaces, boosting our ever-declining natural habitats.
We offer training and events to bring community together to educate and inspire people to create spaces that encourage wildlife and increase biodiversity. Inspiring families and children to plant for their futures and give them skills and knowledge they will retain for life. With England being low on the list for wild, natural green spaces its vital as a community that we encourage wildlife into our urban spaces.
Our Wilder Gardens project created by Jessie Rodriguez has proved to have had a huge impact with families and adults enjoying events such as Buglife, Froglife, Wildflower Walks and Batwalks. With these fun and educational events people have then gone onto creating wilder gardens at home, learnt the importance of surveying and learnt to love nature even more. A Peacehaven Wilder Garden Pod has since been formed where help has been given to an elderly lady wanting to wild her lawn and exciting projects in the Peacehaven Community Garden. Its fantastic to see community in action after our training events. We have a huge number of groups on our page all looking for volunteers so why not find a project that suits you.
Greenhavens has thoroughly enjoyed the last 6 months. With a new Management Committee we have been out making connections and meeting some amazing community committed to preserving our natural world. These are exciting times planning projects for the future.
We look forward to collaborating further with all the amazing groups in this area and together creating a future for nature that is resilient, sustainable and ensures the wellbeing of all in our local community.
