Meet the winners in our No Mow May, Wildflower challenge!
We hope you enjoyed our May wildflower challenge, looking for wildflowers and insects in the long grass left during “No Mow May”!
Seaford Action for Nature (previously called On the Verge) printed hundreds of our ID leaflets and a batch went out to every primary school in Seaford. We also gave them out at events including SEA’s Wonderful world of Wildlife event at the hub and at the Sustainable Seaford fair.
We offered a free prize draw for anyone who took part and sent their spotting sheets back to us and are now delighted to announce the winners!
Six year old Jack completed the challenge with his granny, who has excellent wildflower knowledge. It’s great that she has been able to pass some of it down to the next generation! Jack also spotted two flowers not on the sheet – Speedwell and Herb Robert and six types of insect! Fantastic.
When told about the prize, Jack’s mum said “What wonderful news! Jack will be thrilled! Thank you so much. We really enjoyed completing the challenge.”
Our other winner was Leon, also aged 6, he loves gardening, learning about flowers and generally being outside. He was so keen to do this challenge.
His mum said “Leon received his letter and vouchers today and I’ve never seen him smile this much. He’s over the moon! He couldn’t believe it when he opened and he’s really looking forward to spending his vouchers”
Both prizes well deserved! Thanks to the families for sharing the lovely photos!
Thanks so much to everyone who got involved with this challenge. There are still lots of flowers blooming in June and we are always interested to hear what flowers and wildlife you have seen locally. You can email us on info@renaturingseaford.org or use the form on the website.
We are planning more spotting sheets and challenges very soon, so make sure you are signed up to the Renaturing Seaford mailing list for the latest news.
